Paying in cash

The household deduction is only available for bank transfers. Cash payments do not qualify – always pay through a bank.

Forgetting to claim

Many forget to declare the household deduction in their tax return. Remember to report all work in your withholding or annual declaration.

Not using the couple's benefit
