Restoring old parquet or installing a new floor?

Often, sanding and re-lacquering existing parquet is both a more ecological and economical option than installing an entirely new floor. Good-condition parquet can be sanded up to 3-5 times during its lifetime, meaning decades of service life.

Sanding removes scratches, wear marks and aged lacquer, and new surface treatment restores the floor to like-new condition. However, if the parquet is severely damaged, warped or has suffered moisture damage, installing a new floor is the better solution. Parquet compared to other flooring materials

Parquet stands out from other flooring types particularly in its longevity and the possibility of restoring the floor through sanding. Laminate flooring is a more affordable option, but it cannot be sanded and has a shorter lifespan. Vinyl flooring in turn is excellent for wet areas, but parquet surpasses it in natural feel and value retention.
