We upgrade and modify distribution boards professionally. Safety and regulatory compliance come first.
Electric vehicles, heat pumps and electronics require an up-to-date distribution board.
We ensure all circuits have appropriate protective devices.
We add new circuits or redistribute loads evenly as needed.
All work is carried out in accordance with electrical safety regulations.
A simple and clear process for professional renovation

We review the current board, fuses and load distribution.

We determine whether an expansion is sufficient or a new board is needed.

We add RCDs and new circuits as required.

We test the protective devices and update the electrical drawings.

The distribution board is the heart of a home's electrical system, distributing power to different circuits and protecting the property from overload, short circuits and earth faults. In older apartment blocks and detached houses from the 1960s to 1980s, distribution boards were designed for an era when household electricity consumption was a fraction of today's level. Modern demands — electric vehicle charging, heat pumps, induction hobs, air-source heat pumps and numerous small electronic devices — place loads on old boards that they were never designed to handle. Distribution board modification work is licensed electrical work that may only be carried out by an authorised electrical contractor. Kevyt Remppa organises the entire process on a turnkey basis: from needs assessment through planning, implementation and final inspection. All modifications are documented and electrical drawings are updated.
The most typical signs that an upgrade is needed include repeatedly tripping fuses, overheating fuses, old rewirable fuses without residual-current protection, or a situation where there are no spare circuits for new appliances. Installing a home EV charging station almost always requires distribution board modifications, as the charger needs its own dedicated circuit with an adequate fuse rating. Similarly, a sauna heater being replaced during renovation may require a larger fuse and thicker cabling. Upgrading the distribution board is an investment that improves home electrical safety and increases property value. Modern MCBs and RCDs react to faults in milliseconds, significantly reducing the risk of fire and electric shock.
We carry out distribution board modifications throughout the Helsinki metropolitan area and neighbouring municipalities. The service complements other electrical work perfectly — for example, during a kitchen or bathroom renovation it makes sense to also upgrade the distribution board to meet the new requirements. We always start with a free survey visit where we assess the condition of the current board and draw up a plan for the necessary modifications.
Under current electrical safety regulations, all socket outlets in new installations must be fitted with residual-current protection. When modifying a distribution board, it is natural to also upgrade the protection of existing circuits to the current standard. During socket outlet installations and light fitting installations, we also ensure that every circuit is correctly rated and protected. Arc fault detection devices (AFDDs) are the latest protective device innovation, detecting arc faults caused by defective connections and cutting the power before damage can occur.
