Sound insulation - quieter spaces

We soundproof partition walls effectively. Better living comfort and privacy.

  • Acoustic assessment and survey
  • Effective insulation materials
  • Careful sealing and finishing
  • Significant improvement in sound insulation

What does soundproofing include?

Survey

Assessment and evaluation of soundproofing needs.

Insulation materials

Installation of sound insulation materials with solutions suited to the site.

Boarding

Installation of multiple plasterboard layers to increase mass.

Sealing

Careful sealing at all joints.

Finishing

Joints and surface treatment up to a paint-ready finish.

Who is sound insulation for?

Sound insulation is especially suited for you if you find the sounds of neighbours or your own family disturbing in everyday life. Typical sites include bedrooms next to the living room, children's rooms, home offices, and apartment blocks where the walls are thin. Remote work spaces, music enthusiasts' rooms, and small offices also benefit clearly from better sound insulation.

Apartment blocks

Thin partition walls and neighbours' noise are disturbing — sound insulation significantly improves living peace.

Remote work spaces

A peaceful working environment at home requires good sound insulation from other rooms.

Music rooms

Spaces for hobbyists and professionals require particularly good sound dampening.

Bedrooms

A peaceful night's sleep requires effective sound insulation from the living room or neighbour's direction.

Acoustic assessment

Acoustic assessment

We survey where sound primarily travels from and what sound level is being targeted.

Selection of insulation materials

Selection of insulation materials

We choose insulation materials suited to the site, such as acoustic wool and additional boarding.

Installation and sealing

Installation and sealing

We install the insulation and boards according to plan and seal all joints.

Testing and finishing

Testing and finishing

We check the structures, verify functionality, and finish the surfaces.

Factors affecting the price of sound insulation

  • Sound insulation level: A basic improvement can be made by adding insulation and board layers to an existing wall, while more demanding sites require multiple insulation layers and special solutions.
  • Materials: The quality and quantity of insulation materials, boards, and fixings directly affect the price.
  • Surface area: The larger the wall or ceiling surface treated, the higher the total cost.
  • Structural complexity: Corners, pillars, niches, and penetrations increase the precision requirements and take more time.

Sound insulation prices

The price of sound insulation depends on the desired level of insulation, the size of the area to be treated, the materials used, and the complexity of the structure.

Basic improvement

Single wall, additional insulation

€800-1,200

  • Addition of insulation material
  • One additional board layer
  • Sealing and finishing
Suosituin

Mid-range

Single wall, comprehensive insulation

€1,200-1,500

  • Acoustic mineral wool
  • Two board layers
  • Resilient fixings and sealing

Demanding site

Special solution, complex structures

€1,500-1,800

  • Separate shell structure
  • Multiple insulation layers
  • Flanking transmission prevention

Prices are estimates per wall and include materials and labour. The exact price is determined during a free survey visit. Remember the household tax deduction — you can claim 60% of the labour cost back from taxes (max. €3,500/year).

Sound insulation for your home in the Helsinki metropolitan area

Sound insulation is one of the most effective ways to improve living comfort in apartment blocks, terraced houses, and detached houses. Inadequate sound insulation causes disturbance in everyday life — neighbours' footsteps, voices, and appliance hum travel through thin wall and floor structures and diminish living peace.

Particularly in apartment blocks built in the 1960s-1980s, partition walls are often thin and sound insulation is inadequate compared to current standards. Kevyt Remppa implements soundproofing solutions in the Helsinki metropolitan area with over 20 years of experience — we identify the sources of noise problems, design a suitable insulation solution for the site, and carry out the work with a finished result.

Sound insulation materials and methods

Effective sound insulation is based on a combination of mass, flexibility, and airtightness. Acoustic mineral wool, such as Paroc eXtra or Isover KL-33, dampens sound within the wall structure, while multiple plasterboard layers increase the mass of the structure and prevent sound transmission.

Resilient fixings and acoustic sealant prevent sound from conducting through the frame and from the edges of the wall. In the design of sound insulation, we follow the guidelines of the Finnish Building Code (C1) and the recommendations of RT cards.

Our soundproofing service in Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa

We serve the entire Helsinki metropolitan area and surrounding municipalities. Sound insulation is a natural part of a broader partition wall and structural renovation, but it can also be carried out as an individual project. We always start with a free survey visit, where we assess the severity of the noise problem, the current state of the structure, and the optimal insulation solution.

Sound insulation as part of a renovation and space division

Improving sound insulation is particularly sensible to carry out in connection with other renovation work, when structures are already open and additional insulation can be done efficiently. In connection with building plasterboard walls, sound insulation is a natural addition that significantly improves living comfort.

Similarly, in the construction of steel frame and timber frame walls, sound insulation can be integrated directly into the frame structure without additional demolition work. A soundproofed home is more comfortable, more peaceful, and more valuable — an investment that pays off in the long term.
